Halloween in Miami 2010

WATCH OUR VIDEO FROM THIS WILD WEEKENED HERE!
Every year in New york we have plenty of great options around Halloween. Whether you go to a house party, the parade in the city, or to a club to see your favorite DJ . But.. New York is cold and you go to a lot of the same parties every year. Time for change, time for more sun, less clothes, and even crazier partying. Miami is where it's at and that is what this edition is about.
I'll fill you in on some of the festivities you may have missed and I'll end with a couple of observations on Miami. Be sure to check out the video attached here with plenty of great footage from this wild Halloween weekend.

FRIDAY
Leaving behind the cold and jumping off that airplane into a warm tropical environment with plenty of parties ahead, we were obviously very excited. Friday night we started out at Aerobar to see
DJ Estrella spin. He is a NY based DJ. We had seen him before and he once again did a great job.
Aerobar is a smaller club, but it is extremely nice. Nothing but good beats and friendly people. I definitley recommend checking this place out. It features a nice long bar, room to dance, and a very nice VIP section as well. But the night was young and... "Cab's here!" because it was time to go check out MindControl at Cameo. MindControl are also NY based DJ's (Peter Baily and Richie Santana) who are slowly getting more well known outside of the NorthEast. They did an excellent job and Cameo turned out to be a really nice club as well. There was a pretty good amount of room and the upstairs mezzanine was my favorite part of the club. The one downside to the club is definitely the VIP section that is placed exactly where a main dancefloor should be. Overall it's a great club, but what is a club without a dancefloor? It's more of a lounge if you think about it.

SATURDAY
Saturday night was all about Boris at club Space. Boris is very well known in both Miami and New York and club Space is one of the premier clubs in the entire world. It's very large, insane system, and stays open into the morning. It's a mega club that gets more tourist traffic than locals and definitely lives up to the hype. Just be prepared to fight your way in and don't be surprised to pay as much as $80 for a ticket. That was the price saturday night, which in my opinion is a little much.
This is a really great party, but I would not say the best of the parties during Halloween weekend in Miami. That party would happen Sunday..

SUNDAY
I started Sunday at the beach and knew I would be in for a long and enjoyable day.
After relaxing I caught a cab out of South Beach across the causeway into downtown Miami.
A rooftop pool party on the top of the Viceroy hotel. I think the video attached speaks for itself.
Carabetta and Doons had us jammin' into the night. We walked out of there in a good mood and caught a cab back to South Beach to get ready for Carl Cox at club Mansion. Carl Cox really killed it and it was so much fun and a blur at the same time, lol. Carl is an incredible DJ who has lived quite an interesting life. He has been a DJ since the mid eighties and was voted number one DJ in the world by DJ magazine at one time in 1997. He will also unfortunatley always be tied to the biggest massacre in the history of electronic music. On November 3, 2007 during a gig in Venezuela a shooting spree broke out. Four people were killed and five were injured at an event of 7,000 people.
Quite a tragedy that he obviously had no control over. Luckily Halloween at club Mansion didn't even have one argument in the crowd. Everyone had a great time and the event was a tremendous success. The staff there really goes out of their way to make sure you have a great experience there as well. Big thanks to Dwane, Chelsea, and Adrian.

A FEW FINAL THOUGHTS ON THE CITY OF MIA:
Miami is obviously a beautiful city with a ton to offer to anyone. I think we're all aware of this. There are some things that don't get said about Miami though. Just as I have issues with New York, I have some with Miami too. For one thing the traffic can be horrible. The roads in South Beach are not very wide and there is no real public transportation system. They also run out of cabs at times during WMC as well. The weather in Miami is not the nicest in all of Florida. The warmest yes, but not close to the best. It is uncomfortably humid and when it rains you feel like you are in the middle of a monsoon. Homelessness is an issue all throughout Florida. In Miami you can expect to have to interact with the homeless like it or not. They are everywhere and can sometimes be cracky/scary. They are usually harmless, but they can be pretty annoying when they incessantly talk in a their cracky jibberish. But overall I love Miami like a second home and cannot wait until I go back for WMC.
